What Team Is My Child On?

We have programs for boys and girls. Each program has teams grouped by age. In the event that there is more than one team at a certain age, we try to make the teams as even as possible so that both are competitive when playing the other town rec teams.

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls.

      Girls Teams

      3rd and 4th grade team

    5th and 6th grade team
      Boys Teams

      3rd and 4th grade team

      5th and 6th grade team

    7th and 8th grade team

When Are Games Played?

Games are primarily on Saturdays with some weeknight games. The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade learn to play program is instructional only. There are no games scheduled for this program.

Do We Travel?

We are a traveling program. We try to schedule close games but in some cases we will travel further. We play other town rec. teams in the Capital District . We may also participate in tournaments. Tournaments are very competitive so we will bring the most talented and experienced players. We may bring the less experienced players if the tournament has teams of the same nature.

What is the registration money used for?

We do incur costs. We lease the fields from the Saratoga PBA. We need to maintain and improve the fields –cutting, watering, fertilizing, and seeding. We need to purchase paint to line the fields, LAX balls (hard and soft), general equipment, first aid kits, and more. Every piece of LAX equipment you see at the PBA fields belongs to the Saratoga Youth Lacrosse Association.

All of our coaches are volunteers, they are not paid during the spring season.

Do We Fundraise?

Our yearly fundraiser is a pre-paid fundraiser. You pay for the fundraiser at registration, and then do your part to get reimbursed. We will run snack stands at home games and hopefully have a tournament or two. These activities will generate funds for our club, but they do require volunteer help. We also have a fundraising committee which holds other fundraisers throughout the season.

Who is US Lacrosse?

US Lacrosse regulates programs throughout the country. All US Lacrosse members play under the same rules of play. All members receive Lacrosse Magazine from US Lacrosse. We only play US Lacrosse-registered teams.

Can my child practice without equipment?

No. Because of safety and insurance we can not allow players to practice without equipment.

What equipment is required?

Girls need eye goggles, stick, mouthguard, and cleats. Boys need a helmet, mouthguard, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, stick, and cleats. They may also want a rib protector.

Are the games played indoors or outdoors? What happens in inclement weather?

All games and practices are held outdoors. In inclement weather please check your email. Some games are played in the rain. If a game is cancelled, we will make every effort to reschedule it.

How will I be contacted about schedule changes or additions?

The fastest and easiest way to contact team members is via email, so please provide an accurate email address on your registration form. Please get in the habit of checking your email often during the lacrosse season!

Can I help?

YES!!! Please do. We can use help in coaching, administrating, selling snacks at games, ordering apparel, managing teams, planning the end-of-season picnic, lining the fields, and more. If you can help, please do.
